$5,000 isn't enough to open a proper day trading account - the minimum is $25,000. And if you find anything that consistently provides 10% returns on a monthly basis, let me know.

I don't know if day trading or investing is better for a retired school teacher who has an extra $5,000 to play with. I want to put it in the market so that the proceeds supplement my social security and small pension. I would be happy with 10% monthly earnings.

That's suspiciously successful... I dunno if you're doing anything "wrong" but I certainly wouldn't get cocky, and there's no such thing as a trading system with 100% success rate over an extended period of time. A lot of traders start out with incredibly uncanny success, followed by devastating losses. That's part of the roller coaster of learning how to day trade. Just don't give up when you begin taking a series of losses, which is a likely scenario.

I've been day trading for 12 days now. In that short time I've made about 300 trades, none of which have come back with a loss - indeed, in that short period I've increased my original equity by over 50%, making average profits of over 2% each day.

I believe I've developed a system which so far has had a 100% success rate. Sometimes, I over-trade, and sometimes I under-trade, but I never get nervous or impatient when something isn't behaving as predictably as I'd hoped. I wonder how and why, but most of all, where am I going wrong?

I'm thinking of retiring in two years!
